Comments
When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the information entered in the comments form as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser details to help detect spam. An anonymized version of your email (called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you have a Gravatar account. You can view Gravatar’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible alongside your comment.
Media
If you upload images to our website, please avoid including location data (such as EXIF GPS) embedded in the images. Visitors to the site may be able to download and access any location information contained in those images.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you can choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. This makes it easier so you don’t have to enter your details again when leaving another comment. These cookies last for one year.
When you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal information and is deleted when you close your browser. When you log in, we set cookies to save your login details and screen preferences. Login cookies last for two days, and screen preference cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will stay active for two weeks.
When you log out, the login cookies are removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an extra cookie is saved in your browser. This cookie does not contain personal data and only shows the post ID of the article you edited. It expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, or articles. This embedded content behaves just like if you visited the original website.
Those websites may collect information about you, use cookies, add third-party tracking, and monitor how you interact with the embedded content, especially if you have an account and are logged in on that site.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
When you leave a comment, the comment and its related information are kept indefinitely. This helps us recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them for moderation.
For users who register on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their profile. Registered users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, except they cannot change their username. Website administrators can also view and edit this information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on our site or have left comments, you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, including any information you have provided. You can also ask us to delete your personal data. Please note this does not include data we are required to keep for legal, administrative, or security reasons.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be reviewed using an automated spam detection service.
